The name contains “ooru”. An ooru is a hamlet — a cluster of houses around a temple or a field — rather than a hatti proper, and hattis named for one are usually the larger settlement the ooru belongs to.
Ooru malai is listed among the Thodha Naadu hattis on that basis. If your family names the ooru rather than the hatti, it is worth confirming which of the two the hatti picker should record.

Where this information comes from
The hatti list is compiled from the “Badaga Hattis by Seeme” master list, itself drawn from Nakku Betta magazine (late 1970s, ed. K.H. Madha Gowder) by Wg Cdr Bellie Jayaprakash, with community corrections layered on. Entries are still being validated with elders in the community, so a spelling or a seeme may yet be corrected. If you know this hatti better than this page does, we would rather hear from you.
